In addition to material and technical support, the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research offers a rich intellectual environment for early stage investigators and students. CVVR hosts weekly meetings for its postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to discuss ongoing work, as well as bi-monthly journal club lunches and weekly CVVR seminars with invited speakers. All postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty are regularly encouraged to submit abstracts and to attend conferences and other professional meetings.
The Young Investigator Committee (YIC) at CVVR was established as a platform for emerging and early career investigators to address issues relevant to career and professional development.
The Committee bonds junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and research staff through monthly meetings, often with established experts from academia or industry via candid conversations.
The YIC seeks to provide ample opportunities for discussing challenges in research, career development, academic promotions as well as creating opportunities for networking and collaborations without borders.
The Committee works closely with the CVVR director to ensure there are resources available to help young investigators work towards their career goals. The Committee is also deeply committed to advocate for issues impacting young investigators at CVVR.

The Center for Virology and Vaccine Research (CVVR) Seminar primarily features speakers in basic and translational research in vaccine development for infectious diseases and cancer. The seminar seeks to foster a close working relationship between members of CVVR and leaders in immunology, virology and disease pathogenesis research.
The Annual CVVR Visiting Professor is a distinguished professor nominated once a year by the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research (CVVR) faculty. The visiting professor shares their work at a seminar where they are presented with a plaque of recognition. The professor also discusses their career trajectory with CVVR members who wish to learn about their career path during Young Investigator Committee (YIC) meeting.
