Irena King
Irena is a Ph.D. Candidate in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program. Irena received her B.S. in Neuroscience and an individualized minor in Bioentrepreneurship from American University in 2019. Her research in the Barouch lab focuses on the development of a therapeutic intervention to attenuate the progression of neurodegeneration and chronic inflammation in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to her research, Irena is the Founder and CEO of a medical device startup, Surgicure Technologies, Inc. Outside of lab, she is a competitive equestrian jumper, classical pianist, and an avid baker.
