Dolin Laboratory
Raphael Dolin graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, and trained at Boston City Hospital and the National Institutes of Health, where he was the head of the Medical Virology Section of NIAID. He subsequently directed the Infectious Disease Unit of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, where he became the Charles Dewey Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine. He returned to Harvard Medical School in 1998 as Maxwell Finland Professor of Medicine and served as Dean for Academic and Clinical Programs from 1998-2008, after which he joined the Division of Viral Pathogenesis and Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at BIDMC. Dr. Dolin has a long-standing interest in the development of viral vaccines, antiviral chemotherapy, and viral pathogenesis. His major focus is his studies of candidate HIV vaccines, and he also has interest in influenza and norovirus vaccines. He directs the Harvard HIV Vaccine Clinical Trials Unit and works closely with Dr. Michael Seaman in the conduct of laboratory studies related to HIV vaccines and with Dr. Lindsey Baden in clinical vaccine trials. Dr. Dolin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Infectious Diseases, and is co-editor of Principles and Practices of Infectious Diseases.
