Shant Mahrokhian
Shant joined the Barouch lab in September of 2018 after graduating from Tufts University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. While at Tufts, Shant studied the genetic and immunologic determinants of host susceptibility to babesiosis, a locally endemic parasitic infectious disease. In the Barouch lab, Shant continues to pursue his interest in infectious diseases through his work in the immunology group, where he conducts functional assays like ELISPOT and ICS, to determine vaccine efficacy against HIV and ZIKA from both pre-clinical and clinical studies. Along with his work in the immunology group, Shant is currently helping develop novel vaccine candidates against mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and COVID-19. Shant attends Tufts University School of Medicine to further his education by pursuing a degree in medicine, class of 2024.
